BEST SMALL BEAD-&-BUTTON MOSAIC
WOODLAND CREATURES
Sponsored by the National Pearl Button Museum
The National Pearl Button Museum in Muscatine, Iowa is sponsoring an exciting new creative category at this year's NBS Annual Conference! In an effort to promote a love of button crafting for all, the museum is sponsoring "Best Small Bead-and-Button Mosaic."
Keeping with the conference's theme, "A Walk in the Woods," this year's category theme is "Woodland Creatures." Fish, birds, bugs, animals, and other critters big and small are all welcome entries, as long as they can be found in forests around the world. Go wild!
Compete ONLINE or at the CONVENTION. Purchase your $3 entry fee from the NBS store, just like the other creative challenges.
Prizes:
$30 1st
$25 2nd
$20 3rd
$10 Honorable Mention 1
$10 Honorable Mention 2
Size: Any size up to 9" x 12"
Mounting: Pieces being shown at the conference should be in a 9x12" frame or sleeve to be hung. Artworks should be fully attached to a firm backing for upright display. Frames will not be part of the judging.
Criteria: Pieces will be judged based on creativity of design, intricacy, fullness, variety of buttons/beads, good color sense, and overall impression. Note: It is okay to use pre-made patterns as a stencil, and more than one layer of buttons/beads can be used. Pieces do not have to fill the entire backing. Pieces may include more than one animal in the design.
What kind of buttons can be used? Any kind of beads and buttons can be used, including plastic. Incorporating or showcasing special buttons is great for variety, but spending more is not necessary to win.
