Description
For button manufacturers, the age of molded "lacy glass" was roughly 1860-1910. The buttons are relatively flat and of clear glass, although transparent colored glass buttons are documented by the Jablonec Museum as red, soft pink, amethyst, yellow, amber, green, and blue plus cobalt and aqua glass. This presentation focuses mostly the lacies from this period. They are characterized by a delicacy of molded surface design and their back treatment, which varies a great deal. Of note, the old button molds are once again being made to create buttons, but their back treatments and coloring is noticeably different than the old glass. This presentation is about 45 minutes in length.
