She served two years on the NBS board of directors. Sometime later she became comfortable with metal working tools and began making small assemblage characters using vintage metal and wood finds, putting buttons aside for a few years. A decision to learn to enamel and a lady robot who needed a purse, brought her back to buttons. She collects with a focus on verbals and circus, artist and kitchen themes, while crafting whimsical enamel buttons with moving parts. She readily admits that other collectors have given her some of her best ideas! As a final step for every button she makes, she loves choosing graphics to give it an appropriate home. |
Janet discovered button collecting in the early 1990’s and, while searching high and low for collectible buttons, enjoyed crafting with the extras. She was particularly drawn to china buttons and joined other enthusiasts in forming The China Exchange, later helping to initiate no-harm and studio button artist displays for the California State Button Society.
