Narcie Alexander has been an artist and sewer for over 50 years.  She was born in Dunsmuir, California and grew up in Yreka California.  She was a homemaker for 25 years after her wedding in 1970.  In 1995, after her husband passed away from cancer, she started learning many new crafting skills and hobbies.

At this time, while living in Henderson, Nevada, Narcie joined a local button club. In 1996, she went with a group of club members to her first national convention in Scottsdale, Arizona.  During the convention, two of her fellow club members, Nancy Howery and Betty VanLeer, were discussing a pink crochet pig face button.  Ms. Howery later told Narcie about this button and suggested that she should make one like it. Narcie created a pattern of the pig face crochet from a picture.  She then made a button from that pattern to show at her next button club meeting.  This was the start of her hobby as a button crafter.  She is now a notable Studio Button

Artist who sells buttons at conventions regularly.

Below are samples of her work. The baskets and squirrel are buttons "in progress" using the three-dimensional embroidery technique. Also shown are the beginning of pyrography and elf decoupage gourd buttons, beaded poinsettia buttons, and fabric buttons. The butterfly is tie fabric and the "24" is a clothing label.
