My name is Nancy Miller, and I have creative ADD.  I bead, knit, crochet, spin my own yarn, sew, quilt, and have co-authored a quilt book (One Block Wonder Quilts with Panels, C&T Publishing) and have another book in the works.

I have been beading since my mom got me that good ol’ “Indian Bead Loom” when I was a kid, and I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t fascinated with buttons.  I frequently use buttons in my one-of-a-kind beadwork necklaces, earrings and bracelets.

After sorting through tons of buttons and discovering an abundance of non-descript buttons and fabric covered buttons, I got the wild notion to do beadwork over them.  I started playing. My creative process is simple – grab a button, some beads – and go - letting my imagination go wherever it leads me.

I find it difficult to create the same thing more than once, so my embellished buttons are one-of-a-kind.

The buttons for the March Studio Button Focus are made with a combination of new and vintage beads and buttons.

I participated in the creative challenge at the NBS show in Madison, and won 1st place.  I am honored to be asked to participate in this wonderful opportunity, and will be populating my Etsy store (NancyMillerStudioButtons) soon.
